Help feed a family this Thanksgiving

Once again, the
SEFCU Foundation is helping to support the Equinox Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner by selling $1 paper turkeys at all Capital Region branches. Last year, thanks to your generous donations, Equinox was able to provide over 8,000 Thanksgiving dinners to those in need. We hope to assist Equinox in feeding more families this year!
We are also collecting food goods for CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) in the Binghamton area. Donations of non-perishable food items can be made at any Binghamton branch location.
Can you afford NOT to have long term care insurance?
If you’re like most Americans, you may be saving for retirement, but are you protecting these assets against the expense of an extended illness or disability? Long-term care costs can quickly use up any savings you have put aside for retirement, leaving little or nothing for you, your spouse or for your family. If you have significant assets that you would like to protect, consider long-term care insurance to pay for unexpected illness or disability. Our professional insurance staff can help you choose the right plan. Call 518-862-1955 or outside the 518 area code 1-800-727-3328 option 6 for a free consultation.
SEFCU adds new locations
This fall, SEFCU added two new branches, one in Wilton and the other on Court Street in Binghamton, bringing the total number of locations to 18. Another location in downtown Albany at One Commerce Plaza, 99 Washington Avenue, is now open. SEFCU will also double its current number of branches in Syracuse with a second location nearing completion. The new branch will be in the historic Dey’s Building, 401 South Salina Street and is expected to open early 2007!

Protect yourself online this holiday season
Thinking about shopping online for the holidays? It’s no secret that browsing and buying online can save you time, money, and effort. This season try taking a few precautions when online to make sure your confidential information remains secure.
1. Know who you’re dealing with.
2. Pay by debit or credit card.
3. Check out the terms of the deal.
4. Keep a paper trail.
5. Don’t e-mail your SEFCU account number.
6. Use anti-virus software and a firewall and update    them regularly.
7. Check a company’s privacy policy before doing    business with them.
If you get an e-mail or pop-up message from a seller while you’re browsing asking for your financial information, don’t reply or click on the link in the message. Legitimate companies don’t ask for this information via e-mail or pop-ups. Visit www.OnGuardOnline.gov for more info.
