Retrain your brain to SAVE
 If you’re like most Americans
when you hear the word "savings" you may feel guilt or panic.
The reality is, with a specific plan and some discipline, you
CAN save! Here are a few tips to get you started.
- Don’t spend a windfall. Take your income-tax refund, the
holiday money from your folks, or the $16.35 overpayment
check from the telephone company and save them!
- Don’t pay unnecessary fees. Walk the extra block to use
a SEFCU ATM instead of paying the $1.50 fee.
- Bank your raise. When you get that exciting 3% to 5%
boost in your paycheck, add that to your direct deposit and
live on your previous salary.
- Play money games. Whenever you get a $5 bill put it
aside. (You can even do it with ones, quarters, or all of
your spare change.) You’ll have a nest egg before you miss a
nickel!
- Don’t even think about it. Have money from your paycheck
directly deposited into your SEFCU savings account before
you ever see it.
By following just a few of these
simple tips, you can develop a healthy savings program. Click
here for more saving and budgeting resources.

Keep your kids safe online
You
know how to keep yourself safe online, but what about your
kids? Since they probably spend more time online than you do,
here are some rules you can share with your kids.
- I will not give out personal information, such as my
address, phone number, or birthday online.
- I will not give out the name of my school to anyone
online.
- I will tell my parents right away if I see a Web site,
e-mail, or message that makes me uncomfortable.
- I will never agree to meet someone that I met online
without my parents’ knowledge and permission.
By
giving your children specific rules, you help ensure that they
remain safe when they are online.
Is term life insurance right for you?
No
one likes to think about it, but what if something were to
happen to you? Could your spouse support your children and
maintain the household? If not, term life insurance may be
right for you. Term life insurance provides specified
coverage for a period of time (usually 10, 20, or even 30
years) and pays a death benefit if you die during that term.
To learn more about term life, click here or call SEFCU Insurance Group at
518-451-2947 or 866-733-2880 x2947 for your free quote today!
